She knew this wasn't fair of her, but when was anything fair in her life? She was seventeen and shifted into a giant werewolf when she got angry, her best friend went off and fell in love with some girl and then when she broke his heart he ran away for a few months only to come back and see her as a vampire. Life just really wasn't working out for her. Who was she kidding? When had her life ever been working out?
Isabelle shifted uncomfortablely in the upholstry seat. She wasn't sure why she was being forced into her sister's passenger seat to see Sam and Emily get married. It wasn't like she wasn't going to see the pictures and see it from every one else's minds. She didn't have to be here in the flesh, that was ruining her current Let's avoid everyone in the pack at all costs way of life for the time being. And she was sure no one really wanted to see her right now, so why was her sister forcing her to go? Oh right, because Emily wanted her to be a bridesmaid. FML moment, right?
She brushed out the dress she was wearing and sighed. Izzy really didn't like wearing dresses. She didn't feel like herself. The dress was beautiful, yes, but just not her. The strapless grey dress went down to the floor. She looked down at the cream heels on her feet and scowled at them. She was going to make a fool of herself in those torture devices. She brushed her hair out of her face and sighed.
When Sage finally parked at Sam and Emily's house Isabelle walked inside and was immediately embraced by four tan arms. She hugged the two girls back just as tightly. Reagan and Bree. In her absence she'd forgotten about her two best friends. She missed them both dearly and could feel tears already threatening to fall.
"Izzy, we've missed you." the teenager looked up and smiled as Sue Clearwater and Marianne Hobbes came into the room. Izzy immediately hugged the two women who'd been like her mothers her entire life.
"I missed you all too. So much." she replied and smiled up at Marianne, who pushed the girl's hair from her eyes. Sage came over and Marianne put an arm around them both.
"You're both so beautiful. Just like your mother." they smiled. A crash was heard around the entire house and then sound of Emily shouting at someone. Isabelle smiled and followed the noise to see her good friend sitting in her bedroom with her mother, sister, and Claire fussing about her hair.
"Hey Em." Izzy smiled as the older woman turned and smiled at her. She stood and crossed the room, hugging the small girl tightly. "You look amazing." she smiled.
"So do you." Emily smiled and pulled back. Tears were starting to form in her eyes and Izzy couldn't help the few that fell from her's. "We missed you Izzy. All of us." She nodded and hugged her again.
Isabelle sighed as she watched Claire twirl around in her pretty dress. The small girl seemed to be bursting with energy, as well as everything single wolf girl in the house. Izzy, on the other hand, was not. She ran a hand through her hair and rested her head on her hand. Claire smiled up at her and held out her hands. Isabelle took the small girl in her arms and held her there. Claire giggled and smacked her face in that sweet way that only little girls can. Izzy smiled and kissed Claire's cheek.
Isabelle stood with Claire attached to her hip. She walked into the kitchen. Claire's mother smiled when she saw the two of them and told them both to smile while she took a picture. Izzy grinned as she and Claire made kissy faces at each other. Claire giggled and then moved over and into her mother's arms. Isabelle brushed her bangs out of her face and leaned against the counter.
Before she knew it the time for the ceremony had arrived. All of the bridesmaids (Izzy, Sage, Reagan, Bree, Leah, Rachel, Kim, and Claire's mom) were all lined up next to their groomsmen (Seth, Embry, Paul, Jared, Brady, Collin, Mason, and Jacob). Izzy's eyes grew wide when she saw Jake's head and she turned swiftly to try and escape, but Bree and Reagan were waiting to catch her.
"Please, let me go!" Isabelle's eyes grew wide. She gave them a pleading look, but all she got in return were two swift nods. She sighed in defeat and turned around to be met with the smile of the guy she never thought she'd have to see again.
"Looks like it's you and me, Viles." he grinned, nodding towards all of the other couples that were walking down the aisle. Izzy looked behind her and saw Emily nodding at her. She sighed and turned to loop her arm with Jacob. Isabelle held the flower bouquet in her hands and started walking down the aisle with the guy she'd been in love since she was seven.
She could see everyone from her spot with Jake. She could see how truly happy Sue looked in the front row as she looked up at her. Izzy had missed her more than anyone else. She bit her lip and looked across at Seth. He really was her best friend. He smiled sadly across to her and Izzy's eyes were averted to the ground. She'd hurt everyone without even realizing it. She'd been so selfish. Isabelle looked up when she heard Billy tell Sam he could kiss the bride. She clapped with everyone else and walked forward to reloop her arm with Jacob's.
"Where've you been lately, Princess?" he asked. She looked up at him and rolled her eyes.
"Where do you think?" when they reached the end of the aisle she wrenched her arm from his and stalked off. She didn't need this, when she was away in her room she didn't have to worry about the confrontation with him. She continued walking until she was stopped with a hand around her wrist.
"Iz..." she turned around and saw Seth's hearbroken face. Izzy had to bite her lip to keep in the sob that was sure to break through the surface. She threw her arms around her best friend's neck and cried into his chest. "I missed you, Isa."
