Your name: Samantha
Character's Name: Dr. John David Smith. He is known as Dr. Smith to his students, and John to his friends.
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Vampire Age: N/A
Category: Human
Character History: Born in Northampton, England, John Smith attended the University of Cardiff in Wales, and received a PhD in English. After taking a year off to recover from such an intensive course of study, he decided that he wanted to teach English in America. After teaching at various high schools across the country for a year at a time, he made his way to Washington. He was applied for the available post teaching English at La Push High, and was accepted. He only just got the job.
Character Appearance: John is 6 feet tall, with soft green eyes, which tend to be hidden behind the glasses he needs to wear and light brown hair. He has a willowy build, and appears to be frailer than he is.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths -- He is highly intelligent, very analytical, and has an English accent(one never knows when such a thing could come in handy).
Weaknesses -- He is blind without his glasses, prone to losing things, and self-conscious.
Personality: He is a very serious man when he is at work, and as long as he is in class, he wouldn't be able to recognize a joke if it were dancing naked in front of him wearing a purple wig. But, once he's off for the day, he has a surprisingly good sense of humor. He expects nothing but the best from his students, and won't let them relax until they've given it to him. Because of his slave-driver tendencies, he is aware he doesn't have many fans amongst his students.
Of course, he loves reading, especially English literature of any era. He doesn't watch telly often, but when he does, he particularly enjoys The Friday Night Project, The Catherine Tate Show, Top Gear, Big Brother, and Doctor Who. He also enjoys a good cup of tea. If there is ever a game of football(or soccer as they call it in America) or rugby, he'll want in on it.
How is your character related to the story?: John teaches English at La Push High School. He'll probably notice something going on with a large number of the students, be suspicious, but won't uncover the truth, and will be content to let sleeping dogs lie.
Sample of your RP-ing skills: Dr. Smith knew something wasn't right amongst the youth of La Push. A fair-sized portion of his students had been experiencing blatantly noticeable growth spurts. While growth spurts were natural at that age, the rate at which his students were growing was decidedly not. Teenagers were not supposed to grow an entire foot in just a month. And some of the boys looked older than him! Yes, something was quite suspicious in La Push. He didn't know what it was, and he wasn't quite sure he wanted to know.
"Kim," he called out, drawing the attention of the distracted young woman. This was the second time this week he had caught her staring at Jared, whom she clearly fancied. He knew what it was like to be a teenager, having been one not too long ago. But, there was a time and a place, and in the middle of English class, where the students were supposed to be writing a 500-word essay on why Shakespeare was so respected as a playwright when most of his plots were very contrived and predictable, was not that place. "Eyes on your work, if you please."
