Your name: Samantha
Character's Name: Emmett Aldon Forrest
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Category: Human
Character History: He is a normal, human Quiluete. Emmett was raised by his father, who runs a shop in La Push, after his mom left them when he was two. They don't like to talk about her very much. He doesn't have any wolf genes at all, and he knows nothing about anything supernatural going on in Forks. Other than that, he's had a pretty average history: he went to school on the rez, decided not to attend college since his future was pretty much assured: he was going to run the business once his dad died.
He does however have a strong dislike for Sam, even though he is pretty sure Sam doesn't even know who he his. It started when Sam started dating his best friend, Leah Clearwater, back in high school. Back then, it was just because he didn't think Sam was good enough for her, but accepted it because it made her happy. When Sam left Leah for Emily, Emmett was pissed and began shunning them right along with her. But, after Harry Clearwater died and Leah joined the pack, he noticed that she was distancing herself from him, and was starting to hang out with Sam again. Now, he outright hates Sam for what Emmett sees as him constantly toying with Leah.
Character Appearance: Emmett is sort of cute in an off-beat, dorky looking way. He's got blue eyes and light brown hair. With a height of 5'10", he's two inches shorter than Leah, who is 6'. He has a lanky, scrawny build.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths
He's quick-witted and always has a comeback for everything.
He's a very loyal friend.
He's very smart.
Weaknesses
He's not really that driven. He knows what's expected of him and has no desire to exceed those expectations.
He's pretty weak physically. Athletics were never his strong suit, and he couldn't win a fight to save his life.
He holds a grudge like no one's business.
Personality: Emmett likes theater and was always irritated that the high school on the rez never did any any plays or musicals. He took some vocal, acting, and dancing classes in Port Angeles to help hone his skills. That's the only thing he's ever shown any sort of interest in. However unlikely it is, should someone suddenly decide to stage a musical, he'll be ready.
His other hobbies are watching cult British tv with Leah, like Monty Python and Doctor Who. He is the only person aside from her mother and brother who knows of her nerdish tendencies, and he actively shares them. Currently, the two of them are saving their money so that they can afford to go see Spamalot on tour in Medford, Oregon, which is the closest it'll come to Washington.
How is your character related to the story? He's Leah Clearwater's best friend. He is just an average human being, and she needs that in her life. He is there to remind Leah of when life used to be normal and gives her the hope that someday her life will be normal again.
Sample of your RP-ing skills:
Emmett popped the DVD for Monty Python and the Holy Grail into the DVD player while Leah plopped down on his couch, a bowl of popcorn in her hands. He was certain that the bowl would be half-empty by the time he got to the couch himself. Ever since Harry died, Leah couldn't seem to get enough to eat and she never gained a pound. Well, whatever she was doing to stay in shape, it was working.
He plopped down next to her and was surprised to see that there was still some popcorn left in the bowl. "I'll be damned," he commented. "You actually left me some of my own food. Thanks."
"Oh, shut up," she scowled, throwing a handful of popcorn at him.
"Hey," he replied, narrowing his eyes at her. He was going to be the one to have to clean up the popcorn from all of the crevices of the sofa once she had left. Of course, she just rolled her eyes and ignored him.
While they waited for the previews to finish, he thought that now would be as good a time as any to ask her about something that had been on his mind for a long time. "Hey, Le?"
"What, Emmy?" she replied, shoveling handful after handful of popcorn into her mouth, without once taking her eyes off the screen.
He shuddered, both at her less-than-savory eating habits and at the unfortunate nickname. "Urgh. Can you not to call me that?" She just smirked. "Anyway, I want to know why you keep hanging around with Sam and Emily. I know you can't stand them, so why torture yourself like this?"
"I don't want to talk about it, Emmett. Drop it," she suggested, her tone icy.
"No, I'm not going to drop it," he said stubbornly, standing up and glaring down at her. He knew he looked far from intimidating, but he was going to try his best, even in the face of his nigh-fearless friend. "Every time I try to talk to you about this, you tell me to drop it. Well, this time I'm not! I want to know what the hell is going on in your mind that you would rather put yourself through hell all the time rather than just explain to me, the guy who is supposed to have been your best friend since junior high, what is bugging you?!"
"I said drop it!" she screamed, rising to her feet and hurling the popcorn bowl right past his head, where it shattered against the wall with an astonishing amount of force, sending it contents spilling out on the floor.
Emmett looked at her as she stood, trembling in her fury, with eyes wide with shock. Her bizarre strength and the mess aside, that bowl had come within centimeters of hitting him. If she had wanted to, she could have just smashed his skull in. He knew she was bad-tempered, and this wasn't the first time she had broken something while she was angry. But, this was the first time she had come so close to hurting him.
"Leah..." he whispered, terrified that he might inadvertently provoke her further.
It was as though someone had been possessing her, for as soon as he said her name, it was as if she had returned to herself. The trembling stopped, and she looked at him, horrified at what she had just done and what she might have done if her aim had been the slightest bit off.
"I'm sorry," she murmured, starting to tremble again as she edged toward the door. "I'm sorry."
"Leah, wait. What just happened?" Emmett asked, walking towards her.
"I'm sorry," she repeated running from the house and out of sight.
