Your name: Kylin Ire
Character's Name: Leila Raiyne Astley (a.k.a. Ray, or Lei)
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Vampire Age: 4 months
Category: Wild Vampire
Character History:
Leila came from a fairly normal family. Her mother was a stay at home mom while her father worked as a clerk. They didn't have a lot of money, but they were content with what they had. Leila loved school, and she was very academic. She was also talented at the Arts; singing, acting, and playing musical instruments. She had one other sibling, a brother that was two years her senior. They were best buds, unusual for a brother and sister, but buds nevertheless. Leila looked up to him, and he protected her. All seemed well in her family.
Leila's brother seemed like a happy guy, but when he was 15, he committed suicide. After that, her family seemed to fall apart. Her mother got a job as a waitress while her father turned to drinking. Her mother was gone most of the time because she worked 3 or 4 shifts to make up for what money Leila's father no longer supplied. Leila began to draw away from everyone, still confused by her brother's choice. She became sullen and solitary, staying away from everyone.
When she was 15, her father OD and died. By this time her father had become a vague memory. Leila rarely saw him for he was often at the bar, and when she did he was either so drunk he could barely move, or he was passed out somewhere in their house. His death didn't really seem to affect her. Her mother, now only having to support herself and Leila, quit working so much and tried to resurrect the connection Leila and her had had before their family fell apart. However, Leila had become too distant. Leila's mother tried to reach her, but eventually gave up. She started to date again, and found a nice guy with two kids of his own.
When he and her mother got married, it seemed to awaken Leila. Suddenly three more people occupied her house. Leila hated her mother, for she believed marrying this man---who already had two kids---was a betrayal. She felt as though her mother was trying to erase her previous life. Angry at her mother, but mostly still angry at her brother for deserting her, when she turned 16, Leila applied to become an emancipated minor. Within two months, her request was approved. With that, she packed her car and left.
She drove from her small town in southern Utah to Seattle, WA. There she got a part-time job as a waitress, rented a small apartment, and started over. She lived there happily for a year. Then, a month after her 17th birthday, as she was walking home she was attacked by a vampire. Its intent had been to kill her, but it was interrupted by a group of people walking by the alley where it had dragged Leila. It quickly vanished into the night, leaving Leila lying in the alley way, alone and bitten.
Leila thought she was going to die. She was still bewildered by the whole experience. The pain of changing just added onto her problems. She screamed herself hoarse, but no one came. For 2 days she laid in the alley until the change was complete. She knew she was different, but it wasn't until an unlucky human was in the wrong place at the wrong time, much like her, that she made her first kill and discovered what she was. After that, Leila knew she had to get out of there.
She traveled by night for a few days, feeding on those unlucky enough to be caught alone. A week since the night she was turned, she settled down in the woods near a small town---Forks, WA.
Character Appearance:
Physical: Leila, like all humans-turned-vampires, became beautiful. Her frizzy, wavy, blond hair became luscious and silky with the change. Her lanky arms and legs became strong and lean, along with her long torso. Her freckles, once an embarrassment, became perfectly placed and cute. Her cheek bones became sharp and pronounced, her lips full. Her dimples became lovely instead of childish, and her bitten-down fingernails became perfectly manicured. Her large blue eyes became ruby red and enticing, and her skin became pale and clear of all blemishes. The only thing are the dark blue bruise-like marks under eyes that make it look as if she hasn't slept in a while. She was, in all, perfect.
Apparel: Leila is a tom-boy. She hates dresses, or skirts, or anything that isn't jeans and a T-shirt. She mostly owns worn, dark blue or black jeans, and every color fitted T-shirts. The only shoes she brought with her were her favorite pair of scuffed-up hiking boots. Laced and water-proof, they were all she needed. She always wears a black jacket, whether over her shirt or around her waist. This black jacket was her brother's, and she never leaves home without it.
Jewelry: The only jewelry she wears is a black roped crescent moon-shaped ruby pendant necklace that was given to her by her mother when she turned 13.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strength:
* She is more alert at night, and is therefore considered 'stronger'.
* Because she is a newborn, her strength and speed are far stronger than that of an older vampire.
* Because she loved acting, she is an amazing liar. She can spin up a story in a matter of seconds when needed, and can play it cool. You would never be able to tell she was lying unless you had some kind of power.
* She is an excellent observer, often able to see things others are blind to.
Weakness:
* Fire, obviously.
* Because she is a newborn, the scent of blood will drive her into a feeding frenzy. She has learned to control this somewhat, but it is still very hard to be within half a mile of a human and not want to immediately feed on it.
* Any mention of what she has become. She doesn't want to admit that she has become a monster; a killing machine. She doesn't want to think about the families she is destroying by killing these people. The longer she thinks about it, the more deflated and regret and hatred at herself she feels.
* Ever since her brother died, she has become very solitary. Because of this, she does not trust anyone easily. If you wanted too, if would be very hard to earn her trust.
*She holds grudges. Seriously. She will hold them to the grave, and seeing as she's an immortal....well, that's a long time.
Personality:
Before her brother's death, Leila had a very bubbly personality. She was out going, fun loving, and a generally happy person. After her brother's death, she became very sullen. She became very anti-social, and sunk away from everyone and everything. She became depressed and solitary. No one could reach her. Since she's become a vampire, she's still anti-social, but is more adventurous and less depressed. She's still quick witted and has a sharp tongue. Her nature is bitter and pessimistic, and her outlook on the world is very dark, especially since she became a vampire. However, if you can break through her hard surface, she is still that care-free girl way down deep.
Leila loved to act, sing, and make music. She also loved to write stories in her head, and do improvisation skits. She loved to read, and would often get into trouble for staying up late reading. During the time of her brother's death and then afterward, she confided all her feelings in a plethora of journals. She wrote small plays and composed songs about her life; it was her therapy. Now that she is a vampire, she still finds herself drawn to music or anything of the Arts. She also finds herself composing stories and songs in her head from time to time. It's these moments that convince her that the real Leila---the non killer Leila---is still in there, somewhere.
She hasn't discovered the veggie vampire lifestyle, though she can sense something a bit off on the vampire scents she sometimes can find when drawing near to the town. However, she is trying to find a way to quit her killing lifestyle. She wants to change, but she doesn't know how to do it. If given the chance, she would jump at the idea to change.
How is your character related to the story?:
Leila is a Wild Vampire who stumbled across Forks after being turned. She tries to stay away from the town, and feeds off of stray hunters/hikers. She lives in the woods right outside town, and stays out of everyone's way. She has caught the scent of the Cullen's, but has not actually met any of them.
Sample of your RP-ing skills:
Leila stood stock still. Her blood red eyes sparkled in the moon light as they followed her prey. A man of about thirty stalked a deer, just as she stalked him. He was completely unaware of her presence. The wind blew his scent towards her, and her fangs slipped out, filling her mouth with venom. She ran her tongue over her sharp fangs, itching for the warm, slippery taste of blood. She crouched, getting ready for the kill.
Just then the wind shifted, blowing her scent and the man's scent over to the deer. It bolted, frightened by the scent of the hunter and the killer. The man cursed. He had been following this deer for over and hour, trying to find the perfect time to kill. He set his gun down and leaned against a tree, resting.
Leila smiled. This was the opportunity she had been waiting for. In one swift and fluid motion, she had leaped from her hiding spot over to the man in less than half a second. He didn't even have time to register that she was there before his neck was snapped. She knelt down beside him, lowered her mouth to his neck, and began to drink greedily. It had been almost three weeks since her last kill.
Ever since she had first arrived in Forks, she had picked off lone hunters or hikers. Now that she had been here a while, stories of people disappearing had spread, making people more and more wary to venture into the woods. She hadn't gone into the town itself yet, but she feared if the humans stopped venturing into the woods she would have to break her vow to not kill in a town. It would be too easy for her to become a serial killer in the eyes of humans. At least in the woods the killings were blamed on wild bears or wolf packs. Besides, she sometimes smelt the scent of more vampires. She didn't want to kill on their territory, as she had the feeling that this town, this Forks, was their territory and they would not appreciate any one intruding on that.
She didn't mean to completely drain the human, but her thirst was so great that she couldn't help herself. Sighing, she quickly killed a few rabbits and split their blood over the human. The scent of fresh blood drew a mountain lion to the body almost instantly. It was mauled almost beyond recognition soon. Leila smiled. No one would guess it was her. They would blame it on the mountain lion, just as the last one had been blamed on a bear, and the one before after a wolf pack... Humans were stupid creatures. She couldn't believe she had ever been one. Once having checked over the scene to make sure it looked natural, she licked her lips satisfyingly and vanished into the night.
