Your name: Candle
Character's Name: Bonnie Vafra
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Vampire Age NA
Category: Human
Character History:
Bonnie was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. Her childhood was rather different than most, being the child of parents who rather were apt to hippy tendencies. She, however, felt very out of place in this go-with the flow, free love sort of family being that she was incredibly logical and detail oriented. She spent much of her childhood away from her family, preferring the sanctity of the local park and library. Not that this ever got her in trouble as her parents gave her no curfew and so long as they had some idea of where she was, she was free to do what she wanted.
However, when Bonnie was 9 years old, she found a new hangout at the home of the McLeod’s. Her older sister Tawny, who was just barely 17 at the time, got a boyfriend, Jared McLeod. Though Bonnie wasn’t necessarily very close with her sister, who tended to be much like their parents, she very much liked her boyfriend’s family. In a way, Neron and Bea McLeod became her second set of parents. She became really good friends with their daughter Becky, even though she was 15 at the time. Even their youngest Rand who was just about to turn 13 got along with her. If it wasn’t for the blonde hair that made her stick out from the rest of the McLeod’s, one might have thought she was one of their own.
Bonnie continued to spend most of her time with the McLeod’s even once Tawny and Jared moved away. They actually moved Jared’s old bed into Becky’s room, which was a double bed to accommodate Jared’s large frame, so she could spend the night and sleep next to Becky. However, the happy times ended nine years later, when Tawny suddenly died. She was completely devastated and spent many a night crying herself to sleep. Before and after her funeral, Bonnie spent more time with her parents, who were so beside themselves with grief, that when Bonnie asked to move to Forks with the McLeod’s even they agreed; they thought she would get more support from that family than they were able to give their now only child in that moment.
Bonnie now spends her time trying to adjust to life in Forks. She was already a senior in High School, having skipped a grade in elementary school. She also spent much of her time helping take care of Becky’s child Mathias, babysitting him several nights on any given week so that Becky could have a break. In one of Jared’s bursts of outrage at the loss of Tawny, she learned about the truth of werewolves, as he spontaneously changed right in front of her.
Character Appearance:
Bonnie is a petite blond, standing at only 5’2”. Her almond shaped, light blue eyes and light blond locks give her a very innocent appearance, despite her inner strength. Her facial features are very similar to her sister’s though their body types are relatively different. Tawny had the thin, model body that girls would kill for, whereas Bonnie had a bit more to her. Even though she was 8 years younger than her sister, once Bonnie hit puberty, her curves were distinctly more feminine, having both wider hips and a larger bust line; though nothing too out of proportion with her height.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Weaknesses: Loyal to a fault, following rules, detrimentally critical of herself/self-pitying
Strengths: Speed/endurance in running, Mentally and emotionally strong, extremely compassionate
Personality:
Bonnie is a deceptively strong girl. Her tiny frame and innocent face would make one think her to be incredibly fragile, when in actually, she has an inner strength that can get her through most anything. Certainly, she is not very physically adept, except where running is concerned. But if it came down to weathering the storm, she always finds a way to pull through. She is also a bit rebellious, without realizing it, which is an after effect of having parents with very few rules. She pays little mind to rules when they are given, which tends to get her in trouble.
She is also incredibly compassionate. No matter what situation someone might have gotten themselves into, she isn’t apt to judge, but instead try to help in whatever way she can. Though, she doesn’t wear rose colored glasses. If she thinks someone needs a healthy dose of reality, she will not hesitate to give them a blunt dose of it. Thus, in one conversation she can switch from being incredibly sweet and understanding to telling you how it is. Her anger is something seen very rarely, though many confuse her frustration for anger. But once angered, she is a force to be reckoned with, not at all being above cutting someone down with below the belt comments.
How is your character related to the story?
Bonnie is related to the story as she has sort of been “adopted” by the McLeod pack since she was the sister of the alpha’s imprint and exposed to their world one accident. She can easily be confused for Jared’s imprint though when Jared describes her since their basic features are the same.
Sample of your RP-ing skills:
Bonnie walked into the new home of the McLeod’s, keeping quiet. She wasn’t exactly in the mood to talk with anyone. Quietly, she slipped into the room that she shared with Becky and Mathias, surprised to find both were not there. She surmised that they were out and about, perhaps visiting Jared or shopping. Throwing her backpack on her bed, she changed her clothes from her jeans and billowy baby-doll top into a pair of running shorts and a tank top. She needed to run and get away from people for a little while. Pulling her blonde hair up into a ponytail, she tried not to brood over the day’s events. Somehow it slipped out that she lived with the substitute teacher that all of the girls had crushes on. This substitute of course was none other than Rand. Bonnie was pretty sure if she heard his name sighed in a love struck sort of way one more time she was liable to take it out on the wrong people.
Once her hair was securely fastened away from her face, she slipped on her running shoes and quietly went out the back door of the cottage. She stretched her muscles for a moment, concentrating on what route around La Push she was going to take this time. After fifteen minutes of stretching she was off, jogging towards the beach. Hopefully the kids from school hadn’t decided to have a beach party after school. She just wasn’t in the mood to hold her tongue.
